Azerbaijan celebrates the Independence Day!

On May 28, 1918, the National Council of Azerbaijan was established in Tbilisi and the Declaration of Independence of Azerbaijan was signed. The Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan became the first secular country in the Muslim world. Apart from that, Azerbaijan became the first Muslim country where women's rights were equal to men's rights by the constitution.

The newly established Azerbaijan Democratic Republic fulfilled its difficult historical task with honor. The first parliament and government of Azerbaijan were created, the state apparatus was created, the borders of the country were defined, the flag, anthem and coat of arms were created, the mother tongue was declared the state language.

Unfortunately, on April 28, 1920, the Red Army invaded Azerbaijan and the country lost its independence until 1991, when Azerbaijanis proudly re-declared their independence.

Today Azerbaijan celebrates the Independence Day!
