On August 20, 2024, a significant meeting was held between Rovshan Najaf, President of both SOCAR and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), and Levan Kobiashvili, President of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF). This meeting, aimed at fostering stronger ties, marked a pivotal moment in the relationship between the two football federations.

The General Director of SOCAR Energy Georgia, Mr Mahir Mammedov who helped coordinate and facilitate the meeting, was also present and supported the dialogue.

During their discussions, the leaders of AFFA and GFF explored avenues for mutual cooperation, focusing on initiatives that could benefit the development of football in both Azerbaijan and Georgia. The conversation was forward-looking and collaborative, with both parties expressing optimism about the future.
